Hemorrhoids appear either inside the anus or under the skin around it. When a patient presents with rectal discomfort, swelling, pain, discharge, and bleeding at the time of defecation, it is prudent not to assume it is a result of hemorrhoids; a full evaluation is indicated, including a rectal examination, a proctoscopic exam, and in some cases a sigmoidoscopy.

There are several conditions producing symptoms similar to hemorrhoids that must be considered. To rule out grave causes of ano-rectal bleeding, such as anal or rectal carcinoma, one gastroenterologist suggests, “All patients over forty years old, even with typical hemorrhoidal bleeding, must undergo flexible sigmoidoscopy (or colonoscopy).”

Other types of ano-rectal pathology that must be ruled out include anal fissures, which can cause pain with defecation and be associated with rectal bleeding. The pain will be described as burning or tearing, as opposed to the ache or feeling of fullness after defecation described by patients with hemorrhoids. Perirectal abscesses are less common in the general population but should be considered in patients with diabetes or other immunocompromised conditions.

Anal fistulas can cause drainage, soiling of underwear, and discomfort. Mucosal diseases such as ulcerative proctitis, colitis, or Crohn’s disease can present with rectal bleeding and should be ruled out. Perianal condylomas cause pruritis, local irritation, pain and bleeding. Skin tags can be remnants of past external hemorrhoids and commonly co-exist with fissures. A rectocele can cause fullness in the rectum, giving the patient a similar sensation to an internal hemorrhoid.

It is common for patients to associate pruritis ani with hemorrhoids. In some cases swelling of external hemorrhoids and skin tags can prevent proper anal hygiene, which can cause marked itching. Hemorrhoids themselves do not produce significant itching. When a patient presents with pruritis ani, many assume it is the sequela of hemorrhoidal disease.

          ]]>

However, a mindful physician will consider causes such as allergic reactions, perianal dermatitis, microorganisms, parasites, oral antibiotics, hygiene, systemic disease (e.g., diabetes mellitus, liver disease), heat, and hyperhidrosis. The exact cause of enlarged and symptomatic hemorrhoids is debated, and numerous etiologies have been suggested.

Some of the earliest proposed etiologies included temperament, body habits, customs, passions, sedentary life, tight-laced clothes, climate, and seasons. Recent studies implicate gravity, intrinsic weakness of the blood vessel wall, heredity, increased intra-abdominal pressure from many causes, including prolonged forceful valsalva during defecation or resistance training, obstruction of venous outflow secondary to pregnancy or pelvic masses, and constipated stool in the rectal ampulla.

As a patient ages and has continual presence of one or more of the factors mentioned, the integrity of the hemorrhoid “cushions” deteriorates, and the hemorrhoids begin to bulge and descend into the anal canal. When the cushion bulges into the canal, it is exposed to potential trauma and irritation from the passage of stool.

Natural substances make a better hemorrhoid cure than synthetic drugs because our bodies are designed to absorb and benefit from naturally occurring plant molecules. In comparison, synthetic substances are alien to our system and were only introduced in the last 80 years.

Our bodies were not created to accept or metabolize these synthetic substances, which would explain why they are responsible for more fatalities than those suffered by US forces during the Vietnam War. Drugs clog receptor sites and confuse the system. A cure for hemorrhoids made from plant extract compounds represent molecules of life itself, which are in perfect biochemical harmony with the human system.

HemorrhoidCure has a therapeutic effect to reverse hemorrhoids and prevent relapse unlike any other cures for hemorrhoids. Due to its astringent properties and the fact that it is well tolerated by rectal tissue, hemorrhoids are quickly eliminated by this treatment. Cure from the symptoms begins immediately.

When we incorporate medicinal plants in therapeutic treatments, we are adapting the same compounds that the plants themselves use. Antimicrobial plant extracts can be used to repel the attacks of invading microbes on our system, such as what a natural cure for hemorrhoid does.

Medicinal plants have been used for centuries and their therapeutic properties have been revealed during clinical observations. These properties have been validated through pharmacological tests on animals, isolated tissue samples and cell cultures, proving that medicinal plants provide outstanding results in healing the human system.

Introduction:

Crying is a normal event in the lives of all babies. When a baby comes out of the woomb the first thing to do is crying.By the first cry he will take some air in to the lungs for the first time in their life. After delivery if the baby doesnot cry then it should be initiated by slightly pinching or gently strocking the feet. From this it is clear that the healthy baby should cry and it is a normal physiological event ,still some times it can upset the mother or family members.

We all know that a baby can’t tell his needs or troubles in words. The only way for him to communicate with others is by crying.Babies show some other signs like feet kicking, hand waving and head turning ect.But the best way to take the attention of others is by crying.

Excessive crying may not have a firm definition because the crying habit changes from baby to baby and some babies can be calmed easily but some are difficult to sooth. If crying is distressing for the mother and home nurse it can be called excessive. Many a times baby become quiet by giving breast milk or by carrying with a gentle rocking.Sudden onset of excessive crying means baby is distressed and needs attention. The causes of crying extends from simple reasons to life threatening conditions.Hence crying of a baby should not be ignored.

Most of the time it is difficult to find the cause of the cry .Common causes are discussed here for awareness.

Common reasons for crying:

1,Hunger:–

A hungry baby will cry till he gets the milk. Here the old saying comes true’crying baby gets the milk’.

2,Wetting:–

Urination and defecation causes some discomfort and results in crying till his parts are cleaned and made dry .

3,Company:–

Majority of the kids need somebody near. If they feel lonely they cry. When their favourite doll slips away from the grip they cry for help.

4,Tired:–

When the baby is tired after a journey and unable to sleep just cry simply. They feel tired in uncomfortable sourroundings and due to unhealthy climate.

5,Heat & cold:–

If they feel too hot or too cold they become restless and cry. Child is comfortable in a room with good ventilation.

6,Tight cloathing:–

Tight cloaths especially during warm climate is intolerable for kids.Tight elastic of the the dress can also produce soreness in the hip region.

          ]]>

7,Dark room:–

When the baby wakes up from sleep he needs some dim light. If there is darkness he will disturb the sleep of parents by crying.Ofcourse he will be irritated by strong light resulting in cry.

8,Mosquito:–

Yes,these creatures disturb the sleep by their blood sucking and make the baby to cry.

9,Nasal blocking:–

Child may not be able to sleep when there is a cold and go on crying till the passage is open.

10, Phlegm in throat:–

This also causes difficult breathing resulting in cry.Often a typical sound can be heard with each breath.

11,General aching:–

Generalised body ache with restlessness is seen in flu and prodromal stages of some infectious diseases can result in continuous cry.

12,Habitual cry:—Some babies cry without any real cause ending the parents in agony. Many a times doctor is called for help.

13,Nappy rash:– If a tight and wet nappy is kept for a long time results in this conditon. Rash can also be due to some allergic reaction to the elastic material of the nappy. When the rash appears it causes soreness and baby become sleepless and cry. All other skin lesions like eczema, ecthyma ,candidiasis ect also causes same problems.

14,Earache:–

Ear infection is common in wet climate. The infection may spread from the throat.Ear infection can result in rupture of ear drum causing discharge of pus.Eareache usually becomes worse at night when lying down.Child will become restless with cry and may not allow you to touch the ear. Some children with earache rub the affected ear frequently.

15,Colic:–

When the baby cry continuously most of us diagnose it as colic. This roblem is still a topic for debate because exact cause for colic is not known and diagnosis is also difficult to confirm.Colic may be associated with rumbling and distention of abdomen.Child often feels better when lying on abdomen. Some children may not allow you to touch the abdomen. If the child cries continuously doctors help is needed.

16,Infections:–

All infections causes some kind of pain or irritation resulting in cry.Infection may be anywhere in the body.Usually it is associated with fever, redness and swelling.

17,Reactions to certain food:–

It is said that one man’s food is another man’s poison. Some food articles can produce some allergic reactions.Allergy is manifested in the form of redness, breathlessness, gastric symptons and continuous cry.

18,Hard stools:–

Constipated babies with hard stools may cry when they get the urge for stool. Some children hesitate to pass stool because of pain .

19,Gastro esophagial reflex:–

Here baby cries with spilling of food after feeding. If this continues it may be due to gastroesophageal reflex. This is due to failure of the lower part of esophagus to close after food causing regurgitation from the stomach. It is difficult to diagnose this condition and can be confirmed by giving antireflex medicines.

20, Dentition:–

During dentition child becomes restless with crying. Often associated with gastric troubles and diarrhoea.

Some rare reasons —————–

1,Bowel obstruction:–

Bowel obstruction is associated with severe pain and vomiting. Abdomen is distended with rumbling sound. Baby is constipated with absence of flatus.

2,Septicemia:–

Invasion of pathogenic micro organisms in to the blood is called septicemia. Fever is associated with this condition.

3,Torsion of testes in male kids:–

When a male baby cries continuously his scrotum should be examined. Torsion of the testes produce severe pain which will be worse by touching the affected testes. When the testes is pressed upwards pain is releived. If this is not treated properly it can damage the affected testes due to lack of blood supply.

4,Meningitis:–

Initially there may not be fever, hence crying baby with alternate vacant stare and irritability should not be ignored. Fontanel is bulging. Neck rigidity and seizures may appear later.

5,Retention of urine:–

Children with retention of urine will have agonising pain making them restless.

7,Major injuries:–

Major injury to any parts of the body causes pain. Occasionally children will fall while arrying and results in head injury. Head injury is associated with reflex vomiting and convulsions.

Hemorrhoids (piles) are irritated and inflamed veins situated in the anus. If the piles are permanently affected, such as in chronic constipation, they increase and are gradually pushed out of the anus. There are many people who faced the same problem as I had. And one common issue we have in common is that this is one problem that we feel embarrassed with. Sad to say, there aren’t many effective solutions out there in the market that can truly live up to their claims on effectively curing hemorrhoids. There are a couple of products which may be effective, but will likely burn a hole in your wallet.

So what exactly is hemorrhoids or piles? What are the symptoms attached to it? Simply put, hemorrhoids is a lump that hangs outside the rectum. This lump is commonly due to over-straining while passing bowels, or in some cases with women, after their pregnancy. There can be some other causes, but these two are the most common.

Hemorrhoids can be easily detected without the need for a doctor, or hospital visit. Most common signs of an internal hemorrhoid is bright red blood within your stool. You can see this on the toilet paper or within the toilet bowl. Other symptoms could include slight anal discomfort and/or a feeling of feeling full or bloated.

During a medical examination for hemorrhoids, the patient must lie down so that rectum can be easily reached by the doctor. Sometimes he asks the parties to lay down on the side and legs (Sims’ position). Or, the patient lies on his back and places his legs right and left. There is also a scenario, where the patient kneels on the examination table and stretches the buttocks in the air (knee-elbow position?. It is important that the posture is relaxed, so that the whole experience is not too unpleasant for the patient. Then, the doctor will feel and inspect the anal region. First, the physician examines the colon starting from the outside.

He will be looking for such signs as inflammation, skin irritation, tearing and greatly enlarged hemorrhoids. Most doctors will also use an endoscope, to see the intestines, and inspect for any abnormalities such as lumps or scarring. If the doctor can make no definite diagnosis, then one can also get a detailed endoscopic examination, which requires an empty the bowel. This will obviously require a day or maybe two of fasting where the patient usually takes before a laxative, or, if an enema.

For an endoscopy, the doctor can use various tools, depending on what he wants to see. Usually, they will use a proctoscope for the front areas of the anus. The device is a tube with a handle, 6-15 cm long. The opening of the front is beveled, sometimes located in the middle of a small window. Through the tube, the physician can push a lamp and other devices.

This allows a proctoscope to extract tissue samples or deserted hemorrhoids. If this proctoscopy and rectoscopy provide no cause for the symptoms, the doctor may do a sigmoidoscopy. In this method he is able to see the bottom of the large intestine by introducing a flexible endoscope. The doctor enters a colonoscopy within the intestine, looking at the entire large intestine for the transition into the small intestine. This is done by a flexible hose, which sits at the head of a miniature camera. Additional tests may exclude fungi and allergies, and other possible infections. Remember, Hemorrhoids can be at worst relieved and possibly cured altogether.

          ]]>

There are many treatments available, most of which only provide short term pain relief from the above symptoms but immediate attention must be made to your food intake and or diet plus an excercise campaign and this must be kept up with at all times because once you get rid of your hemorrhoids you do not want them to return. Always look for a natural solution and always take steps to prevent them happening in the first place.

Apart from surgery, a natural hemorrhoid cure that acts as an anti -inflammatory has been proven to be most successful over time to treat, cure and remove hemorrhoids once and for all. What this does is to naturally calm, soothe and reduce the strained and swollen veins back to normal size thus relieving the pain, discomfort and irritation.

Colorectal cancer – which is a very preventable disease. Colon Cancer Symptoms In Young Adults Many people are not aware that screenings for this disease could save thousands of lives each year. Unfortunately, these tests are not used as often as they could be.

It is thought that colorectal cancers take many years to develop, usually starting as a pre-cancerous polyp in the color or rectum. Because they tend to take such a long time to develop, there is time to detect the growths and remove them before they become troublesome. This is why colorectal cancer is a very preventable disease.

As with all cancers, early detection is the key to survival. The earlier you can detect a cancer, the better your chances of survival. Colorectal cancer screenings can find most polyps before they become cancerous. Removing the growths actually prevents cancer from occurring. You can prevent this cancer or detect it early enough to remove it by using one of these procedures:

A Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) is a very simple procedure that you can do at your home. This procedure checks for hidden blood in the stool sample which can be a sign of cancer or polyps or some other disorder.

          ]]>

A Sigmoidoscopy allows doctors to see about one third of the entire length of the colon. A small, flexible, hollow, lighted tube is used to detect cancer or polyps inside the rectum and lower colon.

A Colonoscopy is similar to a sigmoidoscopy, except it allows doctors to see along the entire length of the colon.

A double-contrast barium enema is an x-ray procedure that allows the doctor to see the entire colon.

Lung Cancer Secrets Revealed Click here

If you have symptoms such as persistent stomach cramps, rectal bleeding or sudden change in bowel habits – see your doctor very soon. Risk factors for colorectal cancer are higher for people who have already had colorectal cancer or polyps, or for those who have inflammatory bowel disease like an ulcerative colitis. Also, those who have a close blood relative who has had colorectal cancer or polyps. If you have these risk factors, you may need to have the screening tests done more frequently. Please visit with your doctor about your potential risk factors.

If doctors discover a polyp or other abnormality, then they will take a small tissue sample for examination. If cancer is found, then surgery is often the next step. Sometimes surgery will be combined with radiation therapy and chemotherapy was one of the most effective treatment methods.

Almost all colorectal cancers start as a polyp that grows into a cancerous tumor. When polyps are discovered in the early stages (before they become cancerous), they can be surgically removed before cancer develops. Because colorectal cancer usually takes such a long time to develop, it is considered a preventable cancer. The key to success is early detection. Also, eating a good low fat diet with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables may also help to lower your risk of colorectal cancer.

Early detection is the key to winning the battle against all cancers – especially colorectal cancer. Visit with your doctor and plan to have regular screenings.

Have you noticed a tinge of blood in your stool lately? Colon Cancer Staging And Grading Are you always tired and feeling fatigued? Are you experiencing weight loss, but have not been dieting or engaging in exercise routine? These and many other symptoms should necessitate a visit to a doctor.

Colon cancer is regarded as the second leading cause of most cancer deaths in the United States. Colon cancer is a long-standing disease, which starts as a polyp or a small non-cancerous growth. This small non-cancerous growth will slowly transforms itself into a malignant tumor over a period of 5 to 10 years. People in their thirties and forties are most often predisposed to colon cancer, amounting to about one-quarter of all colon cancer patients.

Colon cancer doesn’t show any visible symptoms during the early stages. During the later stages however, a person suffering with colon cancer may exhibit any or all of the following symptoms:

1. Diarrhea or constipation that persists for a long time.

2. Unusual abdominal gas, or cramping.

3. Episodes of physical fatigue without known reasons.

          ]]>

4. Apparent loss weight and appetite.

5. Stools that are narrow, almost the diameter of a pencil.

6. Bloody stools.

7. There is pain and tenderness felt in the lower abdomen.

Lung Cancer Secrets Revealed Click here

8. Changes in fecal diameter, color and frequency of movement lasting more than two weeks.

Although colon cancer claims to be second among the causes of cancer deaths, the frequency rate can be lowered if only its detection is done early. The polyps and early stage cancer that are discovered before any symptoms are produced most often offer a cure rate as high as 100 percent.

Your doctor should annually test your stool for hidden blood. A procedure called sigmoidoscopy can also be done to diagnose colon cancer. Sigmoidoscopy utilizes a flexible lighted tube with a camera that sits on its tip. This instrument is then inserted into the lower third of the colon. Observations reveal that almost half of all cancers in this area are found in the lower third portion of the colon. Another procedure called colonoscopy is done to check for growths throughout the entire length of the large intestine. An x-ray can also be an alternative diagnostic procedure. A barium enema is given to a patient. An opaque liquid fills the colon, which then becomes visible on X-ray film.

Colon cancer treatments may include chemotherapy and surgery. Those suffering from the advanced form of colon cancer may require chemotherapy. If surgery is the form of treatment, your surgeon will usually remove any polyps found during colonoscopy. If the detection of the tumor is done early, part of the colon affected with the tumor is removed surgically, the colon is restored back to its normal function, and complete healing is expected. However, if the cancer has already reached a wide area including the colon wall, lymph and blood vessels, chemotherapy is thus required. If the cancer involves a large tumor, temporary or permanent colostomy may be required. Re-routing the colon through an opening in the abdomen does this. The wastes pass through the opening and into a pouch outside the patient’s body.

What is Bulimia?

Bulimia is an eating disorder characterized by bouts of extreme overeating (binging) followed by use of laxatives and self-induced vomiting (purging). Bulimia generally begins as an attempt to avoid weight gain, however the binge/purge cycle gets out of control and the individual finds herself unable to stop.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Bulimia?

Bulimia, like many eating disorders, can go unrecognized for quite some time before symptoms become obvious. Often the actions and habits of someone with Bulimia, though considered somewhat odd, are not thought to be anything to worry about. Another difficulty in recognizing Bulimia arises from the fact that, as a general rule, those suffering from Bulimia look healthy. Unlike a person suffering from Anorexia, bulimics are often normal weight and may even be overweight. There are, however, signs a concerned parent or friend can look for to assess whether or not a loved one is suffering from bulimic tendencies. An obvious habit is going to the restroom immediately following a meal. This is not a definitive sign, however, as there are many people who excuse themselves shortly after a meal with very legitimate reasons! That said, an odor of vomit or acidic breath can signify purging of calories through self-induced vomiting. Additionally, bulimics will often have callouses on their fingers or the back of their hands from their teeth rubbing on their knuckles as they induce vomiting. Tooth decay from excessive contact with stomach acid can become problematic for bulimics. A trip to the dentist may be one method of determining whether or not your child is vomiting after meals. There may be jaw discomfort, bleeding gums or other oral discomfort.

Abdominal distention and discomfort, bloating and excessive gas may also signal Bulimia. Overuse of laxatives can cause irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and possibly even permanent damage. Diarrhea and constipation can be linked to abuse of laxatives. Long term laxative abuse can lead to poor colon function and, consequently, the inability to have a bowel movement without a laxative (constipation). Diarrhea causes excessive fluid loss, dehydration and mal-absorption of essential nutrients. Electrolyte imbalances can result.

Often an individual who seems to eat ‘whatever she wants’ and never gain weight is envied, however this can be a sign of Bulimia. Concerned parents may notice that large amounts of food seem to disappear from the kitchen. Additionally an over abundance of food wrappers and trash in the garbage could be cause for concern. Bulimics tend to be very secretive with their eating habits, often hiding out in their rooms or sneaking into the kitchen late at night. Bulimics can inhale huge amounts of food before purging, eating an entire cake or a full carton of ice-cream in one sitting. They may horde food and, although they eat huge amounts when they are by themselves, they will generally be very delicate and even picky eaters when others are present.

Strange eating habits such as cutting food into very small bites, only eating foods in certain combinations, eliminating various types of food, and pushing food around on the plate can all be signs of an eating disorder. Bulimics may also drink large amounts of water and/or diet soda. This can help make vomiting easier.

Excessive or rigid exercise routines can also be a characteristic of Bulimia. Not all bulimics purge through laxatives and vomiting. Some will eat huge amounts of food and then attempt to undo the ‘damage’ they have caused by imposing strict exercise and diet restrictions on themselves. It can often be difficult to differentiate between a serious athlete and a bulimic because both may exercise more than average and eat very small amounts. Generally, however, the serious athlete will eat enough for their needs while the bulimic will restrict caloric intake to a dangerous level.

          ]]>

What are the consequences of Bulimia?

Bulimia, left undiagnosed, can be a life-threatening illness. Binging can lead to obesity and the plethora of health complications associated with obesity. These include, but are not limited to, heart disease, osteoarthritis, type II diabetes, and hypertension. More alarming, however, are the effects of constant purging. Purging through vomiting can lead to periodontal disease, inflammation of the jaw, salivary glands, and esophagus. In some instances gastric rupture can also occur during purging. Electrolyte imbalances, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and dehydration are directly related to purging. Sufferers also experience bowel irregularities, chronic diarrhea, constipation, and flatulence. In addition to the above, chronic fatigue, muscle aches and weakness, depression, self-loathing, anxiety and other mental or emotional problems can arise.

Electrolyte imbalance, caused by chronic diarrhea and vomiting in a bulimic, can have uncomfortable and often fatal consequences. Common signs and symptoms of electrolyte imbalance include:
	●	Weakness
	●	Irritability
	●	Muscle cramps
	●	Thirst
	●	Tissue swelling
	●	Confusion
	●	Agitation
	●	Depression
	●	Change in heart rate or blood pressure
	●	Loss of coordination

Symptoms of dehydration include:
	●	Dry mucous membranes in the nose and mouth
	●	Reduced amounts of urine
	●	Urine that is dark yellow in color
	●	Dizziness, particularly when standing
	●	Low blood pressure
	●	Dry, warm skin
	●	Irritability

Any of the above signs are cause for concern and, as a parent or friend of a suspected bulimic sufferer, should not be ignored.

What are the best treatment options for Bulimia?

Eating disorders are serious, often fatal diseases. They should not be ignored, particularly since the chance for full recovery decreases significantly the longer the behaviors are left untreated. Treatment for Bulimia involves a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach. This involves psychotherapists, nutristionists, doctors, counselors, and other medical professionals. There are options for out-patient treatment, however treatment at a clinic which specializes in recovery from eating disorders is often the most successful option. Treatment usually involves cognitive behavioral therapy with a psychotherapist. This is to help replace negative body image and damaging attitudes and thought processes with positive, more realistic ideals. Along with this, dance therapy, animal therapy and other ‘hands on’ types of approaches may be used. The patient will receive a medical evaluation to assess what damage may have been done by the starvation, binging, purging, and excessive exercise. A nutritionist will be consulted to provide a well rounded, nutritional plan and teach proper eating habits. A healthier relationship with food will be taught. The patient may be asked to keep a food diary or journal detailing not only what is eaten and when, but her emotional state at the time. Family therapy is often incorporated in the treatment process to help those around the Bulimic patient understand the processes of the illness and what they can do to help facilitate recovery. Finally, medications such as antidepressants and/or anti-anxiety medications may be prescribed to help stabilize the emotional upheaval surrounding an eating disorder and recovery.

Group therapy and support groups are generally encouraged during treatment for Bulimia. It can be very helpful for Bulimia patient’s to realize that they are not alone in their struggles. It is also a good way to draw the patient out and discourage a lot of the secrecy that usually surrounds the patient’s actions. It is very important, when choosing a treatment facility, that you ask about the methodology used in their group therapy. Sitting with a group of patient’s who struggle with Bulimia and discussing methods of purging or ways that they hide their illness is counter-productive to healing.

Where can I find organizations with more information regarding Bulimia?

There are many organizations geared toward helping those with eating disorders. Caution should be used, when searching for help, to make sure that the organizations and web sites are providing up to date, accurate information. Some organizations you may utilize are:

	●	National Eating Disorders Association
		• www.nationaleatingdisorders.org

	●	Eating Disorder Referral and Information Center
		• www.edreferral.com

	●	Pale Reflections Eating Disorders Community Treatment Finder
		• www.pale-reflections.com

	●	Something Fishy Website on Eating Disorders
		• www.something-fishy.org

What can I do if I feel my child or friend has Bulimia?

The first thing to remember is that you cannot force your child/friend to change her behavior. Trying to persuade, force, or ‘guilt’ the child in to changing will not work! Generally they already feel guilty for their behavior, and adding to that is not beneficial. If your friend or child is over 18, there is nothing you can do to make them stop. Your best option is to be a good listener. Provide them with a list of resources should they choose to seek help. Remember that eating disorders are generally not about the food. The underlying emotional issues are what need to be addressed. Express love and concern for the individual and a desire to help if you are able. Provide them with support if and when they decide to seek professional help.

If your child is under the age of 18, you have more options. Understand, however, that it is not an easy choice to make! Your child may beg, plead, promise to change, etc. to avoid being put in in-patient treatment. Keep in mind that the ultimate goal is full recovery and that the sooner the eating disorder is addressed, the greater the chance of a full recovery. It is rare for an individual to be able to quit these self-destructive behaviors on her own. It is not uncommon for a child to promise to change and then just work harder to hide the habits while continuing the behaviors. There are many options for recovery and help. Research these and decide which option is best for your situation. In the words of one individual suffering from an eating disorder “Research the disease before you talk to your child, hear her out, love her and support her. This is a complex problem that shouldn’t be taken lightly…”

Diagnosing Crohn’s Disease is often a difficult process. Because it mimics other diseases, Crohn’s may appear to be a myriad of other ailments. Likewise, the symptoms experienced vary from patient to patient, so there are no set guidelines to follow or sings that intrinsically point to Crohn’s.

There is not a single to test to establish the existence of Crohn’s Disease definitively. However, there are several procedures that are done to ascertain if Crohn’s, as well as other digestive tract disorders, are at fault for symptoms being experienced. One such area of examination is stool samples. It must first be determined that the inflammation in the bowels is not the result of an infection. With Crohn’s, inflammation occurs as though there is an infection, but none exists. Therefore, obtaining this information may rule out many possible culprits.

          ]]>

Other tests that may be done are blood tests, a colonoscopy, a flexible sigmoidoscopy, a barium enema, small bowel x-rays, a capsule endoscopy, or a CT scan.

Blood tests may be used to check for signs of infection as well as anemia. As stated above, the existence of an infection would rule out Crohn’s disease. However, if anemia is present, Crohn’s may be more likely. One of the possible symptoms of Crohn’s Disease is rectal and intestinal bleeding. Due to this excessive blood loss, many people will become anemic. Therefore, the existence or nonexistence of anemia is another step in diagnosing digestive disorders.

Another option is a colonoscopy. This procedure is done with the insertion of a lighted tube with an attached camera through the rectum into the colon to check for signs of Crohn’s Disease. However, there are risks to this procedure, including perforating the colon wall and bleeding as a result. Another consideration is that Crohn’s Disease may only occur in the small intestine and not the colon; therefore this procedure would be ineffective in that case.

Similar to a colonoscopy is a flexible sigmoidoscopy, which is the long tube without the camera. The doctor would check for similar things as in a colonoscopy and the same side effects exist. However, this procedure can only examine the last two feet of your colon and would be ineffective on diagnosing problems in higher regions.

A barium enema may be used to provide a silhouette o the digestive tract through an x-ray after barium is inserted in enema form. This, like the other tests that are used, is not as effective as a colonoscopy but may provide valuable clues.

Hemorrhoids are mentioned in ancient medical writings of every culture, including Babylonian, Hindu, Greek, Egyptian, and Hebrew. The word “hemorrhoid” is derived from the Greek “haema”=blood, and “rhoos”=flowing, and was originally used by Hippocrates to describe the flow of blood from the veins of the anus. There are variant definitions of the histology of the hemorrhoid tissue, but they are universally classified according to anatomical origin. Internal hemorrhoids consist of redundant mucus membrane of the anal canal with the origin above the dentate line. Internal hemorrhoids are further graded based on the extent to which the tissue descends into the anal canal.

When a patient presents with rectal discomfort, swelling, pain, discharge, and bleeding at the time of defecation, it is prudent not to assume it is a result of hemorrhoids; a full evaluation is indicated, a proctoscopic exam, and in some cases a sigmoidoscopy. There are several conditions producing symptoms similar to hemorrhoids that must be considered. To rule out grave causes of ano-rectal bleeding, such as anal or rectal carcinoma, one gastroenterologist suggests, “All patients over forty years old, even with typical hemorrhoidal bleeding, must undergo flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.”

Other types of ano-rectal pathology that must be ruled out include anal fissures, which can cause pain with defecation and be associated with rectal bleeding. The pain will be described as burning or tearing, as opposed to the achiness or feeling of fullness after defecation described by patients with hemorrhoids. Perirectal abscesses are less common in the general population but should be considered in patients with diabetes or other immunocompromising conditions.

          ]]>

A rectocele can cause fullness in the rectum, giving the patient a similar sensation to an internal hemorrhoid. It is common for patients to associate pruritis ani with hemorrhoids. In some cases swelling of external hemorrhoids and skin tags can prevent proper anal hygiene, which can cause marked itching. Hemorrhoids themselves do not produce significant itching. When a patient presents with pruritis ani, many assume it is the sequela of hemorrhoidal disease. However, a mindful physician will consider causes such as allergic reactions, perianal dermatitis, microorganisms, parasites, oral antibiotics, hygiene, systemic disease, heat, and hyperhidrosis.

Prior to the 1800s hemorrhoids were treated simply by poultice, bed rest, or, in difficult cases, by the application of a red hot poker. A simpler method was prayer to the patron saint of hemorrhoid sufferers, St. Fiacre, an Irish priest who lived in the seventh century. Injection therapy was begun in 1869 by Morgan of Dublin using iron persulfate, and was a relief to many who had endured the medical treatment of the time. As late as 1888 the only other recommended treatment was abstinence from alcohol, sitting in cane chairs, and half a paint of cold spring water injected into the rectum after a morning fast.

According to medical knowledge, the advantage of western medicines is that they have clear healing efficacy and powerful lethal effect to infectious agent because they are usually chemical substances. Yet at the same time, as western medicines have certain side effect more or less, some present toxic side effect obviously and even can cause serious drug-induced diseases and drug resistance. It is thus clear that western medicines cause serious harm to the body at the time of dealing with diseases. In the trend of returning to nature and taking natural drugs, natural drugs for hemorrhoids are emerging all over the world and surely have a worldwide upsurge in research, development and application.

Natural drugs come from plants or mineral of nature and their direct destruction aiming at infectious agent is often inferior to western medicine. However, natural drugs are not for destroying enemy but for mobilizing autologous tissue or self-recovery capability. Additionally, natural drugs have an effect to improve effect and decrease toxicity by compatibility of medicines and reduce side effect further. Natural drugs play an important role in multiplication and prosperity of livestock and human health.
